The West coast of Tasmania is a mass grouping of extremes. Weather, barren rock scapes, raw beauty. Mineral rich and Heavily tannined. Many of the rocks were produced by volcanoes. Mostly known as the Mt Read volcanic belt. Gold, copper, lead, silver, tin zinc and ultra high purity silica flour have all been mined in Tasmania.
Tassie is home to two rare minerals Crocoite and Stichtite. Crocoite is made of fantastic bright red crystals and is Tasmania’s mineral emblem. This all influences my atmospheric interpretation of this corner of our globe.
